The Big Bend fishery, in walking distance.
Cedar Key sits at the southern edge of Florida's Big Bend coast: shallow grass flats, oyster bars, and creek mouths that hold redfish and trout year-round, plus runs of sheepshead, mangrove snapper, and gag grouper depending on season. Cedar Key is also known for monster trout. Our building is about a 10-minute walk from the public boat ramp and the city marina.
What's biting when
Year-round: Redfish, sea trout, black drum, sheepshead.
Spring (Mar to May): Cobia run, Spanish mackerel, big sheepshead pre-spawn.
Summer (Jun to Aug): Tarpon migrate through the Big Bend. Tripletail on channel markers. Mangrove snapper offshore.
Fall (Sep to Nov): Bull redfish, kingfish nearshore, grouper opens.
Winter (Dec to Feb): Trophy trout on the flats, sheepshead at structure, big black drum.

Launch points
- Cedar Key Public Boat Ramp: free for vehicles, paid for trailers. About a 12-minute walk from 634 6th Street.
- Cedar Key City Marina: slips, fuel, bait. Foot of Dock Street.
- Shell Mound Boat Ramp (15 min north): better access to backcountry creeks for kayakers.
Boat trailer parking
We can accommodate up to 2 boats and trailers in our overflow lot two doors down, on a per-request basis. Mention your trailer setup when you book and we'll confirm space for your dates.
Coolers, cleaning, and unit notes
Every unit has a full-size fridge with ice maker. Pelican Point is the easiest for trailered crews (largest unit, king bed, 2 bathrooms). Gull Wing has no stairs to the front door, easiest for hauling coolers and gear in and out. Heron Nest units are upstairs (carry coolers up a flight); they each have dedicated seating on the shared upstairs porch with water views. Sandpiper Wing is the smallest, a one-bedroom for a solo angler or a couple. We ask that fish carcasses go in double-bagged trash for Tuesday/Friday pickup.
